International rock sensation Lola Rain has long hidden her dark personal life of substance abuse and cheap sex. As this downward spiral threatens to overcome her success, Lola's husband/manager Luke Frame becomes exceedingly concerned about his own reputation. He thus hatches a plan for her to "accidentally" overdose, rationalizing that her death will cause him less bad press than poor reception to her concerts. Following her demise, Luke is wracked with guilt, for committing the murder and for having gotten away with it. Plagued by nightmares and isolated by his crime, Luke's descent begins to mirror that of Lola, and threatens his sanity. But Luke is suddenly revitalized by the arrival of a mysterious young hitchhiker named Terry. Hoping that Terry will be the key to his redemption, he also fears that Terry could be the reincarnation of Lola seeking vengeance. "Another trademark Cecil Howard psychodrama that proves once again that Jerry Butler is the king of tortured souls in adult. He's exceptional as a music agent tortured by the death of his troubled rock star wife (which he largely caused) as is ably supported by Colleen Brennan (although her role is underwritten). But I don't see the movie at the level of "Snake Eyes," for two reasons. It needed a longer running time to develop the characters more and the scenes with Ron Jeremy and Taija Rae, while funny on their own thanks to her, come completely out of left field and disrupt the flow of the main story."

What holds it together is less plot than atmosphere and presentation, with a mournful tone that gives the material a strange, lingering weight. There’s a sense of art trying to push through the exploitation framing, especially in how it treats obsession and success as forms of haunting rather than triumph. Uneven and undercooked in places, but compelling in how it refuses to let the emotional damage sit quietly in the background."
