Valuable resource

"For people interested in the topic it is a valuable resource"

John C. (5/5)

Great!

"Engagingly written, thoroughly researched and thoughtfully reasoned history of the "stag film. " Erdman is one to watch."

Kieran K. (5/5)

Wonderful resource

"Great resource on the early days of adult film. Definitely worth the read and I would recommend everyone order this. Support those who are keeping the early days of the industry alive!"

Kevin C. (5/5)

Stripteasing out history's hidden threads

"Archivist Dan Erdman put in the work! This insightful history is an accessible and informative read. That's something of a triumph when your primary sources are battered underground filmstrips, newspaper stories obscured by euphemisms... and it's not like anyone was filing their production records. If not for the Kinsey Institute and the FBI would we know any of this at all? It's a shame there's a dearth of imagery here because both the academic and lay audience will be curious about how these obscure films looked, but if you're interested in the history of pornography, independent film production and distribution, or America culture - this is a must read."

Jay K. (5/5)

Well-researched and well-written

"This book was a pleasant discovery! It's a great resource in a space with few other resources available. It's a tad expensive, but if you are interested in the history of adult film, I feel that the price is justifiable."

Tully M. (5/5)

Buy this if it comes back in stock!

"Overall this is a great book on a lesser known history of film. Only complaint is that it's lacking in stills and pictures from the era. This book is a part of a series that seems to be on the pricier side when trying to hunt the other volumes down. Hopefully more copies of this book and the series are acquired and sold through either Melusine or the Vinegar Syndrome website. Great value considering the price and what it's going for elsewhere!"
