The biggest stars, best directors, and highest production values; that is a QUALITY X film. These deluxe Blu-ray editions of some of the genre's masterpieces, along with plenty of hidden gems, offer beautiful restorations and plentiful bonus features, all presented in homage to its namesake of esteemed New York film distributor, Mature Pictures, the company which almost single handedly raised the bar for outstanding sex films, and whose films will be included in this fittingly elegant collection.

Ever since they were children Angela and her brother Peter have been as close as siblings could be. But when their relationship crosses the line from fraternal love to unnatural lust, Peter withdraws to become a priest, attempting to sever all contact with his sister. Hopelessly devoted to her brother and devastated by this abandonment, Angela soon experiences the physical manifestations of his guilt, as Peter sends her to work as a maid for a sadistic couple. Soon, Angela is thrust from one horrifying experience to the next; her body affecting an almost otherworldly draw from men whose only goal is to abuse and humiliate her. All the while they repeatedly cross paths with the mysterious “fireworks man,” an almost devilish presence who may be manipulating the lives of both Peter and Angela. The second feature directed by groundbreaking filmmaker Wes Craven (Last House on the Left, A Nightmare on Elm Street), THE FIREWORKS WOMAN (aka The Fireworks Man) ranks as his most structurally experimental effort as well as his most controversial. Craven's sole foray into hardcore is both brimming with dark religious commentary as well as venerating essential works of underground erotic literature. Quality X is thrilled to present The Fireworks Woman fully uncut for the first time on video and newly restored in 4K from its best surviving film elements, along with extensive interviews which lend both historical and first-hand value to this mysterious and long obscure production.

Reviews

Wes Craven's sordid past

"Wes Craven's second film, The Fireworks (Wo)Man has a lot more going on then I noticed on first viewing. Having to make a porn film because he was a bit of a pariah after Last House on the Left, it seemed fairly uneventful on my first watch. But several subsequent viewings brought a lot of subtext to the surface, with Craven addressing religion and gender roles. The restoration and transfer are quite good and there are informative extras. Another quality release from OCN."

Jason M. (4/5)

Early Wes Craven effort

"The performances are strong, a dreamy atmosphere in many sequences and some artsy photography. It’s definitely another kind of X-rated movie. The extras are pretty interesting too. Would love to see ‚It Happened In Hollywood (1973), were Craven was a second unit director."

Thomas B. (5/5)

One of Wes Craven’s best

"Beautiful movie. One of the best shot and actually arousing adult films I’ve ever seen. Had the pleasure of seeing this in theaters earlier this year and new I had to take it home. Killer slipcover too!"

Bren A. (5/5)

For Wes Craven completists

"Never thought this Wes Craven directed porn movie, would ever gonna get a restoration, but here we are and it looks amazing, with a nice video essay in the extras."

Lennard B. (5/5)

The Fireworks Woman

"A long lost hardcore movie by Wes Craven finally available ! Incredible !"

PATRICE C. (5/5)

The forgotten Wes Craven

"I wasn't even aware of this film's existence before this release. Very fascinating footnote in Wes Craven's Career. Outrageous in every right. A must for fans of hardcore and one you ought to see in general. The restoration appears to be incredible and the supplements were fascinating."

Drake D. (5/5)

Finally!

"I'm really glad I could finally watch this nugget of psycho-sexual experimentation through a nice, semi-cleaned-up disc instead of a bootleg file or tape. I say "semi" because it's a roughly made picture that'll never make a demo-disc for your new bigscreen TV. It's probably not a great porno movie, but Craven is playing with the elements of film & smirking at the camera. Cool flick."

Isaac W. (4/5)

Not bad

"What a dirty little film, definitely taboo. Solid release, well packaged and looks good."

Alexander W. (4/5)

Wes Craven

"A Surprisingly good adult movie from Wes Craven."

Mathias S. (4/5)

“Lost” Wes Craven film

"Whilst no masterpiece, it is so great to finally have this “lost” Wes Craven film in my collection. It is surprisingly atmospheric too, and who would’ve thought we would ever see this film with such great picture quality. Recommended!"
