PEEKARAMA presents the wildest, rarest, and most scandalous theatrical hardcore double features. Taking its name from one of the earliest "all action" sex theatre chains, each PEEKARAMA release presents two themed, full length feature films, both meticulously restored, thus giving you the opportunity to enjoy an old fashioned dirty movie double feature at home!

Patrice Rhomm is best remembered for writing the Belgian horror classic, Devil’s Nightmare, but following that, he became one of the earliest auteurs to bring genre film sensibilities to French sex films. Presented here are two of his hardest to see, and most heavily horror influenced erotica.

David Leger is a successful author who has run out of ideas. When his publisher asks him to deliver an erotic novel, David begins to look for creative inspiration in unusual places, deciding to rent an old mansion. But not long after he’s settled in, a mysterious woman begins to visit him each night, sharing increasingly fantastic and horrifying tales of sex and death, which begin to feel ever more real... Combining gothic horror with explicit sex and a macabre sense of humor, DRAGUSE is an unjustly forgotten hardcore/Euro-Horror treasure and stars Monica Swinn (Lorna the Exorcist), Olivier Mathot (Sadist of Notre Dame) and Erika Cool (Pussy Talk II), and comes to Blu-Ray newly restored in 4K and completely uncensored for the first time on video. (85 min)

Adrien is a journalist specializing in occult phenomena. After purchasing a mysterious ring rumored to have belonged to Casanova, Adrien discovers that he can make his erotic fantasies come true. But all good things come at a cost, and his sexual good luck charm might have a deadly price... Cheerfully moving between screwball comedy and supernatural intrigue, LE BIJOU D’AMOUR features French sex superstars Brigitte Lahaie, Danielle Troger, and Carmelo Petix and is presented on Blu-Ray for the first time. Reviews

Le Bijou is the more interesting of the two

"Not your typical Peekarama set of titles. French Cinema always needs some time to grow on you and these movies are sadly a bit dull. It is fun to see the different fantasies, but the scenes are short, a bit weird and well not you normal Peekarama release. Nice to see France in this vibe. Nice quality and nice to see some diversity among the titles offered. Le Bijou is the more interesting of the two and of course features Brigitte Lahaie (small part). You can’t really call the movies hardcore, it only features some brief moments with not a lot of close-up footage."

Another one with the perfect vibes

"Maybe it’s because this is French, but this is just a specific vibe you gotta go with rather than totally understand. The picture quality is amazing though. Not too big on the blu-ray insert. The slipcover isn’t bad though."

Taylor S. (4/5)

Brigitte!

"Two atmosphere packed French adult erotica gems featuring scenes with Brigitte Lahaie, what more do you want?? Perfect packages and presentation, I hope we see more from Le Ciny Clichy in future."

The Vinegar Syndrome (Peekarama) Blu-ray

"The Vinegar Syndrome (Peekarama) Blu-ray release of Patrice Rhomm’s Draguse (1976), also known as Draguse ou le manoir infernal, is a double-feature set alongside Le Bijou d'Amour (1978). Critics generally regard it as a high-quality restoration of an "idiosyncratic" and "weird" French erotic-horror hybrid. The Feature Set in a remote mansion, the film follows an author with writer's block who is visited by a mysterious muse, played by Monica Swinn, who regales him with tales of various fetishes. Reviewers from Blu-ray. com describe the film as an "episodic exploration" with a "spooky" atmosphere, notably featuring "time capsule" footage of 1970s Parisian streets and sex shops. Video Quality: 4. 5/5 The presentation is sourced from a 4K scan of the original 35mm camera negatives. Detail: According to The Digital Bits, the image is "detail-laden" with natural flesh tones and excellent clarity. Colors & Grain: Reviewers note "lively" primary colors and a "heavy, film-like grain" that preserves the original texture. Condition: While some minor speckling and scratches remain, the transfer is described as a massive improvement over previous obscure versions. Audio Quality: 4/5 The release features a French Mono DTS-HD Master Audio track with optional English subtitles. Clarity: Dialogue is reported to be clear and precise, even with the era's typical dubbed performances. Score: The "funky" and "haunting" musical score is well-presented with good fidelity and no major distortion. Special Features This Peekarama disc includes several historically significant extras: Companion Film: The full feature Le Bijou d'Amour (1978), starring Brigitte Lahaie, is included on the same disc. Interviews: Features extensive archival interviews with actress Monica Swinn (39 mins), actress Erika Cool (12 mins), and co-producer/writer Eric de Winter (14 mins). Historical Context: Interviews note that Draguse was the first film to receive an "X" rating in France after the 1976 legalization of pornography. Packaging: Includes reversible cover art; limited edition copies originally shipped with an embossed slipcover featuring artwork for both films. Final Verdict Draguse is recommended as a "singular vision" that successfully melds occult horror with the French "New Wave" of adult cinema. While some find the episodic narrative "unsteady," the Vinegar Syndrome technical presentation is widely praised as definitive."
