"Roberta Findlay remains a unique voice in exploitation cinema"
"I love Roberta Findlay's films, and Angel on Fire is one of her best, a gender-swap effort with a surprisingly feminist angle underpinning it and hints of queerness as our philandering, sexist protagonist dies and is sent back to earth as a woman to experience just what it's like to be on the other side of the gender wars - needless to say he/she immediately sets about getting laid / masturbating as much as possible, but soon finds that all is not a bed of roses when you have to deal with assholes like his former self. Altar of Lust is an entertaining (just about) softcore effort, a nice transitional work that works well as an addendum to the "Flesh" films, with pleasingly ridiculous voiceovers given by the Findlays themselves and 95% sex scenes throughout its runtime."
"Great two pack of perverted films. Nice restorations of pretty disturbing pornos."
"Not some of Findlay's best hardcore work, but regardless of much value for fans of hers or fans of adult cinema at large. Also, we must celebrate any time Jamie Gillis and Findlay worked together. More pieces to the deliciously confounding puzzle that is Roberta Findlay."
"Very low budget but fun early efforts from the inimitable Roberta Findlay. Audio/sound was a little rough along with the video but it’s nice to have them in a nice digital format/presentation. I’m slowly working my way through her filmography and she was already quite interesting even this early."
"I'm always amazed by the quality of these old VS DVD releases. Hopefully both of these Roberta Findlay classics will make it to Blu someday."
""The Altar of Lust" is a rather middling Roberta Findlay production concerning a woman's frantic search as to why she prefers sex with women, all wrapped around a psychiatric session in which the analyst has the typical adult cinema cure for what ails her. The far more ambitious "Angel on Fire" is a sex filled reworking of "Goodbye Charlie" as overseen by a pair of far from heavenly angels. While "Altar" works with only the most threadbare of conceptions, "Angel" suffers from far too many missed opportunies to flesh out its more interesting premise."
"Love these double features"
"What an odd collection of films, and definitely an artifact of its time. The transfer is fine, given the sources, though Angel does seem to be considerably worse, it is still remarkably watchable, and there is little sound degradation. As a piece from it's time, it is not a fun watch, though the Angel scenes are pretty awesome, this is still a great bargain for any budget. Also this case is much better than my other VS DVDs, not sure what happened there!"
"So glad this was back in stock, essentials features for Findlay completists. As usual, even in her early hardcore work, scenes are well shot with limited resources/budget. Def worth getting especially at such a low price."
