This is quality entertainment, and a title that deserved to be pubt out by VS (the picture quality on the Cal Vista release is not great)."

Hot California Gigolo Legs
"First up is Hot Legs. It's essentially a movie about some models who advertise products (such as stockings), but they get carried away having sex all the time (as you do). The coolest thing about it is the 'Hot Legs' lighting setup with bulbs forming a cube. In the modern day with LEDs this is incredibly cheap and easy to do, but back then this is actually a lot of effort. I remember owning a set of disco light columns and even with only four bulbs in each, after only half an hour the metal grills at the front were getting incredibly hot to touch. Anyway, it's a cool set up and really the main scene of the movie. The sex is all fairly standard, nothing all that unusual or memorable. Some of the music (particularly near the start) ages it a great deal, to the point where it seems hard to believe it was made as late as 1979 (perhaps it wasn't?). California gigolo is a John Holmes movie. Some people seem to love his movies, but I'm not one of them. He can rarely get the thing hard (either due to drugs or because of a bloodflow issue) and so as impressive as it is in terms of size, he struggles to do much with it other than the missionary position. It reminds me of those times I've had to squeeze a jumbo hot dog into a small milkpan. The music is fairly dreadful and it features a scene which is a bit r-a-p-e-y featuring John Holmes and Veri Knotty. Scenes like that seem to come up a few times in his films... can't say it's much fun to watch. Veri Knotty apparently got her name from being able to tie her 4 inch labia in a knot (a trick which she performs in this movie). At which point in her short life she decided this would be a fun thing to do is anybody's guess, but in any event as strange as it is, I can't say it did much for me! Very Knotty died quite young from liver failure due to substance abuse... very sad, but seemed to happen to quite a few in the industry. Anyway, back to the review - almost all of the scenes are very much standard, with nothing all that memorable or interesting. It's fine... it's okay... but there are so many better films out there."
