Jack and Jill have just been married and are on their way to enjoy their honeymoon when their car breaks down in the middle of nowhere. Spotting an eerie old house, the couple makes their way to the front door, only for a strange old woman to answer and invite them in. After giving them some tea, the unwitting couple find themselves transported into the strange, sensual, and terrifying world of Dark Dreams.

A hallucinogenic, sex and horror filled cinematic 'trip', DARK DREAMS was one of the earliest attempts at a hardcore 'crossover' film and stars two of the biggest names in early sex films, Tina Russell (Whatever Happened to Miss September) and Harry Reems (Deep Throat), along with supporting performances from Darby Lloyd Raines (Chorus Call) and Laura Cannon (Forced Entry). The sole erotic film from mysterious director Roger Guermantes, DARK DREAMS makes its authorized DVD debut from Vinegar Syndrome, fully uncut and newly restored from its 35mm negative.

witchy vibes

"Witchy vibes all around. Entertaining for sure. Jumps around in tone, bordering on horror and an experimental film at times. Very intriguing release."

Fun, trippy, very early 70s effort

"For the most part a fairly straightforward single-roomer given a patina of weirdness by the occult framing and particularly by the AMM-like score. Notable for a very early Harry Reems performance alongside the lovely Laura Cannon. The hottest male participant looks suspiciously like Dennis Wilson, but sadly we don't get to see him fuck. Despite the roofy concept it's actually fairly amiable in it's tone rather than feeling rapey, probably helped by the general air of dreamlike fuzziness. The score remains an interesting and not always succesful bargain basement take on Ligeti's 'Atmospheres', but it's unusual to hear something like this on a porn film. The cackling witch bits are pretty good fun. This is a very late 60s/early 70s head trip kind of porno, that makes no sense but is more about establishing a drugged out mood. It helps that the cast is hot in that particular late 60s/early 70s way, fleshy and natural, and interracial as well, with a very hot south asian dancer in sari and a gorgeous black woman with a serious afro."

Light Nightmares

"From the era where legit adult films could cross over and also contain elements of other genres. Laura Cannon looks incredible in her scenes, and only if she had more entries before disappearing. Great release, with a vibe that is difficult to explain. Don't go into this looking for wank bank material; approach as if you want to watch a great movie with adult scenes interspersed."

"Horrific, atmospheric adult cinema!"

Sin Dreams (apologies to Roy O)

"This one is all about the atmosphere (or 'vibes' as the kids say now), which for an Adult film can be a make or break prospect for some. For me, it fell on the right side of arty-pretention, but it definitely won't be everyone's cup-of-tea. Laura Cannon is a favourite of mine, hence the more-than favourable review. Purchased at a knock-down bargain price, this was well worth the money!"

Aneurin M. (5/5)

Dark indeed

"Falls on the dark side of erotica, moreso than the erotic side, but a really interesting release."

Kyle G. (5/5)

Okay

"Pretty good release."

Chris S. (3/5)

so good, my family loved

"so good, my family loved it."

Steven S. (5/5)

So-so despite good premise

"Does not live up to its ambitious crossover attempt. Interesting premise but does r deliver."

Kevin K. (3/5)

Enjoyable at the price

"Grabbed it cheap and it was definitely worth what I paid. Pretty fun blend of sex and daft horror."
