"I'm sorry, these were both terrible. The set-ups go nowhere and like the worst of Carlos, they bottom-out into endless orgy footage for most of the middle. The transfers and package are nice, as usual with VS, but that's about the only positive thing I can say about them."
"Carnal Haven is a bit like 'The Love Champions', only nowhere near as good. Essentially this is just one extended orgy scene, occasionally cutting to other sex scenes and giving a little bit of background on each character, but it's all fairly meaningless. There's one scene where the couple try a really unusual position, so I give credit for that. Aside from this, I'll remember it mostly for the incredibly hairy bottoms on display (both male and female), plus a slightly larger lady which is something you don't see all that often in these movies, especially as many of the cast were no doubt on all sorts of substances. A lot of the male actors in this will be familiar enough to anyone who watches porn from this era. I thought at the time this might be the worst Carlos Tobalina film I'd seen, but then I watched the second feature... In 'Her Last Fling' a woman is given the diagnosis of having a 'terminal disease' (I love it when doctors are non-specific about stuff like that) and has only weeks to live. She of course decides it's time to go off and do all the things she'd wanted to do before but was too scared to try. Naturally that involves buying a convertible car and scooting off to as many orgies as she can find! And unlike the first feature on this disc, this film features multiple orgies. The weirdest thing about this one is the strange grunting sounds throughout the film, which sound like they've been recorded at a zoo (possibly the hippo enclosure). There is no overriding theme to the music or film in general and given how it starts, it's fair to say that tonally it's all over the place. Imagine taking the same premise, but the girl falls in love, tragically just as she is nearing the end? Well... (spoiler alert) - you don't see her die in this movie... and that's all I'll say. Would it have mattered if it had a sad ending? Probably not, as you're led to believe she's dying the whole time anyway! As a side note, sadly director Carlos Tobalina himself was diagnosed with a terminal disease, but unlike in this movie he shot himself. To summarise, these two movies are classic Carlos Tobalina. There are plenty of orgies, the sound is mostly recorded live, the women are generally okay looking and natural but nothing special, there's lots of fur on show, mostly unimaginative positions (if you've seen one of his films then you've seen most of them), poor lighting, shots coming in and out of focus and lots of closeups of cocks. You rarely get cutaways to side on shots which are clearly filmed at a different time, as you might see with other directors. In fact you get the impression he just calls action and then lets them get on with it. The second movie had some potential in terms of plot, but it's handled so poorly that this probably ranks as my new least favourite CT film. Not in any way recommended, but if you do want a Carlos Tobalina movie featuring orgies then I'd recommend The Love Champions instead, as it's better in every way!"
