International sex symbol, Seka, has lost her sex drive. So much so that even the mere touch of a man horrifies her. Frustrated and confused, Seka turns to a psychiatrist (Paul Thomas) who puts her into a hypnotic state to help rediscover her sensuality. Soon Seka finds herself in a world of unlimited ecstasy, observing and participating in encounters with men and women, each more exciting than the last.

Co-directors Fred Lincoln and Sharon Mitchell present a cinematic document of volcanic lust that's more erotic and passionate than anything you've seen and featuring a supporting cast including Lori Blue, Don Fernando, Lysa Thatcher, Mai Lin and many more. So come with Seka and enter a place where fantasy becomes reality...A PLACE BEYOND SHAME.

Sexy Seka and more!

"Lots of hot scenes starring several beautiful actresses, all spiraling out of the imagination of the legendary Seka as she tries to get her mojo back with the help of consciousness guru Paul Thomas. Film restoration looks terrific. While kind of light on story, this will still get plenty of repeat viewings!"

Shameful Seka!

"Essential Seka! Some of her classic scenes on this one and a beautiful transfer. A decent movie. Hopefully we get a Blu-Ray set in future but the DVD will do nicely until then. Recommended!"

Dvd only forever?

"This will really shine when it's re-release with other Seka films that never made it past dvd. Give me a bluray triple feature with this, Seduction of Cindy, Tara Tara Tara Tara together with any new short clip or trailers so it has something new. Please."

The Beyond

"Can you go beyond shame? Yes. Yes, you can."

"A Place Beyond Shame" (1980),

""A Place Beyond Shame" (1980), co-directed by Fred J. Lincoln and Sharon Mitchell, is a curious Golden Age adult film starring Seka as a woman grappling with a sudden loss of libido. Seeking help from a psychiatrist (Paul Thomas), she undergoes hypnosis, triggering a series of steamy dream sequences that aim to reignite her desires. The film’s psychedelic transitions and funky score add flair, while Seka’s magnetic presence anchors the loose narrative. Though the plot feels like a flimsy excuse for its vignettes and lacks emotional depth, the polished 35mm visuals and varied cast—including Lori Blue and Mai Lin—make it a visually engaging relic of early '80s erotica, best enjoyed by fans of the era’s unpolished charm."

Seek-ah it out (if you can)

"Seka looks incredible in this release, especially in her scene with Paul Thomas. It should not be lost that this film also has some other beautiful and very underrated actresses from the era like Bonnie Holiday. The quality of the transfer is about as good as one can expect on a DVD. It's unfortunate that it's out of print because everyone really should take a moment and see just how striking Seka is in this movie. Incredible to think she was in adult films."

A Veri Knotty Seka Movie

"A Place Beyond Shame isn’t a great adult film. It’s a good enough one though. The plot? Seka thinks she’s ugly (?!!). I guess looking in a mirror wasn’t working for her. She goes to see a shrink (Paul Thomas). He puts her in a trance and she starts showing up at his office and masturbating while thinking about other people having sex. This fixes her, apparently. One of the people she imagines is her mom, banging two guys on a couch. If you’re wondering, yes. She masturbates to her mom banging two guys on a couch. Her mom is played by Veri Knotty. I first became aware of her in the elevator scene from Joy. I like her. Speaking of Joy, Sharon Mitchell co-directed this with Fred Lincoln, one of the trio of psychos from Wes Craven’s The Last House on the Left."

Seka is beautiful but not at her best here

"The transfer looks as good as it most likely ever will (by DVD standards anyway). This one is mostly entertaining with good scenes throughout. Seka is as beautiful as always, though at times seems very cold which isn't unusual for her. Still recommended for fans of her work."

Ben A. (3/5)

Great restoration

"Great restoration work by VS, the transfer is great and likely never looked better."
