Presented in partnership with Something Weird Video...
From nudies to roughies to ultra weird regional curiosities, the sexploitation world welcomed any filmmaker working in any genre, so long as the limits of nudity and sex on screen were pushed as far as they could go - but never all the way. DISTRIBPIX, one of the legendary names in the genre (and whose extensive library will be the backbone of this line), will offer single, double, and even triple feature Blu-rays highlighting works from every corner and crevice of softcore smut, from the dawn of nudie cuties to the all-but-hard 70s, with plentiful lost and never on disc films along the way.
Crime, kidnapping, white slavery, ritualistic cults, and other sordid activities were all fodder for the most outlandish roughies of the 1960s. Produced primarily in New York by a mix of budding filmmakers and “legit” craftspeople moonlighting in the seedier areas of cinema, these trashy tales became the bedrock of what later exploitation features would take in even more extreme directions. Distribpix Inc. + Something Weird offer the Blu-ray debut of a notorious pairing of two of the most twisted such efforts, both newly restored in 4K from their 35mm original camera negatives!
In SATAN’S BED, a pre-fame Yoko Ono stars as Ito, a young Japanese woman who arrives in New York to reunite with her husband, only to discover he’s gotten mixed up in a life of drugs and crime. Meanwhile, a gang of strung out dope fiends unable to satisfy their kicks, kidnap and torment beautiful women. A truly twisted mutant film which combines an unfinished hard boiled crime drama with a nasty sexploitation thriller, this Michael & Roberta Findlay effort offers one sick surprise after another.
In SCARE THEIR PANTS OFF, innocent young women are being drugged and kidnapped off the streets of Manhattan, only to awaken in a mysterious dark room where they are tormented by hideously deformed creatures…or are they? Combining a sex-cult oriented nudity with a crime thriller, and touches of oddball humor, this truly unique sleaze pic was the sole directing effort from John Maddox and was produced by the legendary Ron Sullivan (aka Henri Pachard).
directed by: Michael and Roberta Findlay, Ron Sullivan starring: Yoko Ono, Val Avery, Glen Nielson, Roberta Findlay, Mary St. Feint, Sean Laney, Jon Woods, Alou Mitsou, Claire Adams 1965 and 1968 / 73 min, 63 min / 1.37:1 / English DTS-HD MA 1.0

Reviews
Bonkers
"Another amazing release from DistribPix. Satan’s Bed is a complete mish-mash of different films put together by Michael Findlay. It’s a mess, yet somehow totally engaging. And…Yoko Ono?!? Scare Their Pants Off is total lewd and lascivious fun!"
— Matthew M. (5/5)
Satan's Bed, though notable for
"Satan's Bed, though notable for having a pre-fame Yoko Ono starring, is two halves of movies stuck together and winds up being less than the sum of its parts. Scare Their Pants Off is an interesting proto-slasher with an attempt at the end to explain the psychological impetus for the murders that is similar to the ending of Psycho, and even more off the mark. The films look very good in this restoration, I was surprise by the quality of the picture for both."

A really weird double bill
"A really weird double bill of sexy 60's movies. They're definitely not for everyone, but if you like the kinds of strange cult films that Something Weird specialise in then these two movies should satisfy. Satan's Bed is marketed as featuring the notorious Yoko Ono. Honestly, she doesn't get much to do though. Every so often the film will cut to her lounging around, before going off to follow an unrelated character who will inevitably get naked. So just keep that in mind and you shouldn't be too disappointed."

Distribpix Strikes Again!
"Total sleaze… all for me! For my full detailed review of these films, see my entry on Letterboxd: @M4N14K I viewed these films on the Satan’s Bed + Scare Their Pants Off Vinegar Syndrome Blu-ray Limited Edition physical media release and it is the same great premium level of packaging and presentation that you’ve come to expect from the generic releases of this boutique label. No other brand beats Vinegar Syndrome at the cardboard game and this great slipcover is no exception to the consistently fantastic artwork and component quality this company produces."

Cruel & Hateful
"Satan`s Bed is really mean, and not in a way that plays as amusing or fun. Awful vibes. But if you`re buying this you know what you`re getting into. Scare Their Pants Off is also mean, but has more of a "what are they going for" energy to it that I loved."

So-so Distribpix/SWV pairing
"Revivifying an old SWV release, this pairs a couple of Distribpix offerings. Neither is particularly great, but both offer a bit of marginal interest. For SATAN'S BED, the main claim to fame is a pre-Beatles Yoko Ono in the lead; the film itself is stitched together out of an old movie she made that never got released and newer footage shot by the Findlays. It doesn't make a ton of sense, and isn't all that entertaining, but it's cool to see Yoko so young and playing a dramatic role. The 2nd feature, SCARE THEIR PANTS OFF, is just 3 set-ups with girls in different sort of "haunted house" situations engineered by a couple guys who get off on scaring them while they're naked. It's dumb, but I guess kinda fun if you just turn your expectations off and go with it. Blu-ray presents both features looking great, as usual, though kinda skimps on the extras -- it ports a couple of pretty useless supplements from the SWV DVD (in a slightly stretched aspect ratio, one of which is just a clip from CURSE OF HER FLESH) along with the trailers. Given Roberta Findlay's involvement in SATAN'S BED, would've been cool to get one of her commentaries with Casey Scott or something, but I can also understand her probably not wanting to take the time. Overall, and OK entry in the SWV/Distribpix line - probably no one's high watermark, though if you're a roughie junkie, you'll probably want to pick it up, and the films do look nice."

Fun set of 60s sleaze
"Fun set of 60s roughies, not really well made films, but enjoyable. I really liked Satan's Bed, it was cool seeing a pre-fame and pre-Lennon Yoko Ono"
— Brandon B. (5/5)
Great upgrade
"I will always buy a Something Weird upgrade"
— Josh C. (5/5)
More Something Weird goodness
"I'm a big fan of these Something Weird releases that Distribpix are giving us, and this double-bill presentation is no exception."
— Toby L. (5/5)
Dastardly Double Feature
"Satan’s Bed is a notorious grindhouse‑style exploitation film that feels like two mismatched movies awkwardly stitched together, with a very young Yoko Ono in one of her earliest screen appearances. The plot is chaotic and often hard to follow, and the rough production values make it more of a curiosity than a genuinely compelling drama. If you’re into obscure B‑movie oddities or early cinema curios, its bizarre energy and sheer weirdness might be entertaining in a so‑bad‑it’s‑interesting way. "
