"Decently sleazy psychothriller/porno hybrid. Nice package and the commentary by Findlay is a pleasure to. listen to."

Don and his wife Frances have been struggling in their marriage. Frances's mentally ill sister, Karen, who lives with them, is taking a toll on their romance and as such, the Comptons have been considering having her committed to an asylum. Upon overhearing their plans, Karen runs away, taking refuge in an empty house on a remote beach. But slowly her grip on reality diminishes, giving way to increasingly violent delusions and an ever-growing bloodlust...
Roberta Findlay's (SNUFF) tribute to Repulsion, A WOMAN'S TORMENT is a one of a kind blend of melodrama, sex, and proto-slasher. Starring Crystal Sync, Jake Teague, and Tara Chung as Karen, and featuring a moody classical soundtrack from Walter Sear (LET'S SCARE JESSICA TO DEATH), Vinegar Syndrome presents this oddball barrage of sex and violence newly restored in 2k from its 35mm negative, along with its never before seen extended R rated version!

"Decently sleazy psychothriller/porno hybrid. Nice package and the commentary by Findlay is a pleasure to. listen to."
"Unfortunately, A Woman's Torment fails as a slasher / adult film because of porno trappings. People can't just have sex; there has to be ridiculous dirty talk. Couples have to immediately go to sex rather than slowly building to it. It just makes everything feel phony rather than natural. This is fine if the movie is just meant as a tugfest, but if you're attempting something more artistic, why not play a lot of it straight with sex scenes that play out naturally? This one would probably be more memorable if so. Interesting that such a film was attempted, but it could have been something great rather than mediocre."
"Findlay is of course an acquired taste, but this is one of the top rungs on the ladder for me for what that’s worth."
"Depressing kind of film. I found it rather ugly. Solid transfer"
"Very interesting blend of hardcore erotica and thriller horror. Very enjoyable. Looking forward to checking out more from Roberta Findlay!"
"You've got to wonder how the husband managed to qualify as a pyschiatrist, even a layman would be far less oblivious than he is. But then maybe that's the sneaky point, deconstructing the myth of the male, especially with the far too obvious to be a mistake scene that features the very obvious tube being used to fake a spectacular cum shot."
"What an amazing movie!!! Roberta Findlay is such an impressive filmmaker, and this magnificent work explores the intersecting poles of beauty and sleaze brilliantly! Stuffed with great extras, wonderful to hear the great curmudgeon Findlay speak. Gorgeous packaging!"
"This was a very interesting premise for a movie that has a great score to back it up, but the pacing really drags along. The restoration looks pretty good and the commentary was informative for what the director was going for"
"Another awesome addition to my Roberta Findlay collection. I hope to have all her non-adult films one day (not much of a porno collector) so here's to hoping VS will do a 4K of Lurkers and Prime Evil, and a box set with her other films (I know they're already out, but I'd love a fresh 4k set of them all)"
"Vinegar Syndrome's Blu-ray release of "A Woman's Torment" is a noteworthy entry in the world of cult classic cinema. This film, often overlooked, receives a significant boost through its impressive restoration, which breathes new life into its visuals and audio. The quality of the Blu-ray is commendable, with vibrant colors and crisp details that enhance the viewing experience. A great deal of care went into the restoration process, offering both longtime fans and newcomers an opportunity to appreciate the film in the way it deserves. Overall, this release not only honors the film’s unique legacy but also makes it accessible for a new generation of viewers. If you’re a fan of classic exploitation cinema, this release is a must-have for your collection."
