Pulse Video is a France based, genre film focused boutique label which specializes in creating ultimate home video releases of cult and X rated films. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is excited to help bring their extra features loaded editions across the Atlantic!
Pierre Unia, renowned filmmaker and composer, embraced hardcore cinema as soon as it was legalized in France in 1975. He directed CANDICE CANDY, an international success starring Béatrice Harnois (Pussy Talk) and Sylvia Bourdon (Exhibition 2). In 1976, he followed up with a more ambitious film, L'ENLÈVEMENT DES SABINES, a big-budget comedy with cult actresses Danièle Troger, Véronique Maugarski and Pamela Standford and a cameo from singer and composer Laurent Voulzy, a few months before his first gold record, Rockollection. For the first time on blu-ray, Pulse Video offers you two emblematic works from the early days of the golden age of French X, in their full versions, never before distributed on video.

"It's an ok set. Nothing spectacular or anything. . . these are just two run-of-the-mill X-rated French productions. Enjoyable for what they are. Some of the actresses are attractive, some aren't. The restorations are very good, and the extras include alternative sequences and cut scenes."
"The sound design on this collection is so good. I never thought I’d own smut that sounded this good! Lol"
"A pretty frothy French fancy. A lot of the score is for the catchy theme tune to Candice Candy. ". . . Sabines" threatens to go to a dark place but fortunately never does. Instead you get an always fun "girls about town" scene before the serious business of faux-rape erotic storytelling gets going. Maybe just try talking to them next time, boys."
"A joy to look at, sexy cast and some cool tunes in these two French 70s hardcore flicks from Pulse, who w need to hear more from, a great label and this release doesn’t disappoint."
"Two fascinating examinations of the conflicts over sexual freedom in 1970s France. The intrigues in Candice Candy are not quite enough to keep it interesting throughout, but it is worth a watch as a cross section of different attitudes toward sex (across generations, sexes, classes). Two scenes stood out to me: Liliane Allen and Richard Lemieuvre in front of a porn film, the projected images becoming an in-camera superimposition; and Sylvia Bourdon's manifesto for a sex-positive media, delivered in a lengthy monologue that feels exceptional for such a film. L'Enlèvement des Sabines is not just the better of these two films but a legitimately good one that needs no further qualification. The opening scene of seasonal grape harvesters has a documentary integrity that is of interest in itself, and grounds the narrative in a specific provincial milieu. The conflict between traditional patriarchal entitlements and modern sexual liberation is examined through each successive scene, making the culminating orgy feel both utopian and disquieting. It is the rare hardcore film that takes its premise seriously and follow through with its ideas!"
"Great double feature of French adult films. Good audio and video quality."
"Sounds great with fantastic special features!"
"Great feature, a classic of French erotica."
"An interesting pairing that mixes playful fantasy with a distinctly European tone and pacing. Both films look very good here, making this a solid and entertaining set."
