The American Genre Film Archive (AGFA) represents the world's largest theatrical catalog of exploitation cinema. Their home video line presents a diverse selection of movies, ranging from new preservations of classics from the vast library of Something Weird to the wildest in shot-on-video (SOV) titles. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing this diverse and unique home video line!
Lost for decades and now found, SEX DEMON is an erotic grotesquerie that was openly inspired by THE EXORCIST and ABBY. John gives Jim, his lover, a medallion as an anniversary gift. But all hell breaks loose—literally—when the medallion causes Jim to become possessed by a sex demon and wreak havoc on New York's gay cruising spots. Never released on home video, J. C. Cricket's SEX DEMON is a crucial piece of queer horror history that has been preserved from a 16mm release print. Plus: The XXX-rated hauntings continue with DEADLY BLOWS and 10:30 P.M. MONDAY—two formerly lost horror films that also make their uncut home video debuts. In the words of GAY SCENE critic Bruce King: “The squeamish may not want to watch . . . but if you do, you won’t forget!”

"Another interesting and strange release from AGFA! They always unearth the craziest stuff and package it in a neat presentation. Missed the slipcover on this one but the cover art is pretty great on its own."
"An interesting premise cannot save this film without more behind it. Bad acting and irregular jump cuts and a bad transfer, with the letter half of the film showing neon green lines running vertically everywhere. It's also very bloody, sometimes rather incongruously so. The sex scenes weren't very titillating, either."
"Check out the flick Sex Demon from Vinegar Syndrome partner, Melusine. The voice of Bill is strong with this one impact full of extras that you will love. Slip cover is absolutely fantastic and beautiful packaging as well."
"Love the epic orchestral music during the sex is that what being gay is like damn!!"
"This was my first Melusine purchase and I'm as pleased as I expected to be. I saw the slip copy was getting low so I grabbed it on sale. I'm happy to see some vintage queer cinema included under the Melusine banner. . . and it would be nice to see more. . . (cough, cough). The Sex Demon feature itself is just 58 minutes but there are two other equally bonkers features including, leaving you with nearly 3 hours of vintage gay smut. Elizabeth Purchell's commentary on all three films and the beautiful slip design round out another home run of a package. Thank you for the loving attention to queer cinema, AGFA. More, please! (I'm a greedy bottom that way. )"
"Although I've been a collector of VS and Mélusine for years, this was my first dive gay porn. Being a straight dude, I was not sure what awaits me here, but the premise and the whole story behind the discovery of this previously lost movie made me buy it. I watched all three features with the audio commentaries and enjoyed them mostly. And while Sex Demon is the main attraction and most Horror, I actually liked Deadly Blows the most. It also the most shocking scene of mixing sex and violence. While the sex scenes were sometimes pretty rough in the first two, the third feature Monday 10. 30 PM is way more extreme and some scenes were hard to watch for me personally. Still the creepy atmosphere and the soundtrack (there is no dialogue) kept me intrigued, although I was appaled by some scenes. AGFA did their best with restoring Sex Demon from a very beat up print, but it still looks rough and very Grindhousy. Deadly Blows looks the best and 10. 30 a little less. The black and white sections look much better than the color action. The commentaries with Liz Purchell were very engaging and informative, also they end around the 20 minute mark with Deadly Blows and 10. 30 PM. The bonus gay porn trailers were alright, but mostly in very poor quality. Mostly Jack Wrangler flicks here."
"This set was a real treat, trashy early to mid 70s gay adult horror films. Deadly Blows and Sex Demon are awesome, the leads are pretty good looking men, and I quite like their acting. 10:30 PM Monday is fascinating, it's a silent leather + fisting porno with a soundtrack that ranges from your typical psych rock of the era to weird synthesizer based music that almost sounds like musique concrète."
"Absolutely love that AGFA released this. Gay erotica at its finest folks. But seriously, please support this great release! Wish we could get more LGBTQ erotica released!! I think there is more of a market for it then they think"
"This collection is a masterpiece of curated sleaze. It captures that exact moment where occultism, low-budget erotica, and amateur filmmaking collided to create something very unsettling. It’s not just about the content; it’s about the decay of the image. Sex Demon is a fever dream of 16mm, like a "roughie" wandered into a black mass. Wow!"
