The 'white coater' sub-genre was the most popular trend in early erotic features. These ostensibly educational films skirted censorship laws and as such could present the most explicit scenes with minimal legal concern. However, many enterprising filmmakers took the opportunity to flex their artistic muscles and created works, such as these, which were as visually striking as they were titillating.

"A pair of bottom-of-the-barrel "educational" sex films with "Sessions" exuding a ridiculous level of gravitas by a phoney clinician who acts as if he's lording over a board meeting of S.P.E.C.T.R.E., while "101 Acts" pretends some form of cultural integrity by inserting bad readings from Elizabeth Barrett Browning in between flashes of psychedelically lit mounting couples situated on a bizarre suspended lazy-susan. Dreadful."
