This double feature of Eric

"This double feature of Eric Edwards/Arcadia Lake costarring films is interesting, but for me, the main attraction is the interview with N. Y. stalwart Carter Stevens. He was involved with a lot of films in the late 70s New York scene and they could've talked to him for hours. Still, what we got is appreciated!"

Bella's Nest

"Arcadia was a real hotty, but most of the scenes I've seen her in were a little disappointing. There's even one I saw of her and partner Eric Edwards where he's essentially doing push-ups on top of her (I forget the film now, but it wasn't good). In Robin's Nest however the opening scene is an absolute scorcher between Edwards and Lake, proving there clearly was some magic between them. Apparently there were issues (perhaps) of her not wanting to be in sex scenes with other guys, but she seems okay doing girl on girl (lucky us!). There's some of that too and for that reason, this one will be staying in my collection. The storyline itself is quite strange and although at times the film has a serious tone, it shifts quite rapidly to being quite light-hearted. There are some morally questionable bits (putting aside that it's porn, as I have no real issue with that). Paul Thomas forcing someone to have sex with him just because he had some dirt on her is the prime issue here, but then it gets even worse when his wife returns. In any event, Samantha Fox is hot and puts in a great performance. The music in this film is atrocious, it's just the same short few bars looping over and over and over and over. . . Bella is kind of a Lolita type tale. Weirdly I watched 'The Crush' earlier in the day, which also borrows liberally from Lolita. It's a bit creepy when Edwards keeps repeating 'you're only a child', but I believe at some point they say she isn't. . . it's morally dubious, but then a lot of movies from this time are not dissimilar. Still, it goes even further than that and I'm not going to spoil the ending, but it's interesting. There's a hilarious scene between Bella and her mother - the actress playing Bella is natural and her lines flow, but the actress playing her mother has to be one of the worst I've ever seen in a film! Both features have their moments and some genuinely erotic stuff is contained within, as well as a relatively engaging plot (more so Bella). I would offer cautious recommendation, although given this is out of print it probably won't be easy to track it down."

Robin and Bella Sitting In A Tree

"Robin's Nest: a euphemism for an orgy? You got it. Features a double-bill of Eric Edwards but Bella might be the better of the two features."

Mitchell C. (3/5)

Pretty decent double feature

"Both movies on this release are pretty good I think I like them both equally. Some good scenes and good casts on the bill . Not too bad on the transfer is good if you could probably get with dvd ."

Robin's Nest, a rumination of

"Robin's Nest, a rumination of love in life and how easily we might get wrapped in chaos that destroys what we truly want. Bella, an erotic thriller from New York's underground in which Tracey Adams' sexual awakening comes in the form of a rivalry with her mother. Two of Eric Edward's finest films."
