The crown jewel of sophisticated erotica, filmmaker Cecil Howard's COMMAND CINEMA presents lavish Blu-ray and 4K UHD editions of Howard's own masterworks, alongside those he produced with other hardcore auteurs such as Chuck Vincent, Roberta Findlay, and Armand Weston.
Sandy lives in a large suburban estate with her sexually voracious single mother and her mother's lecherous boyfriend, Robert. After Robert tries to molest her, Sandy decides to run away to the city, hoping to move in with her twin sister. Hitting the road, Sandy is quickly picked up by a strange magician couple whose mastery of spells makes for an otherworldly experience. But upon arriving at her sister’s home, Sandy realizes that she’s unwittingly stumbled into a far far darker and more dangerous situation than she could have ever imagined…
Integrating suspense and the supernatural into a story of a girl on the run, Cecil Howard’s award winning NEON NIGHTS ranks as one of its director’s most unusual and memorable films. Working from an expertly crafted screenplay from regular collaborator Anne Randall (Firestorm) and tackling unsettling themes both in storytelling and visuals, Howard assembles a remarkable cast headlined by Lisa Thatcher (American Desire), Veronica Hart (Roommates, Boogie Nights), Eric Edwards (Sexcapades), Kandi Barbour (Budding of Brie), Jody Maxwell (Expose Me Lovely), and, of course, Jamie Gillis (Seduction of Lyn Carter). Command Cinema proudly brings this memorably unhinged hardcore classic to Blu-ray, newly restored in 4K from its original 35mm camera negatives and supplemented by an astonishing selection of interviews with cast and crew.

Lynch saw this
"It's often overused to suggest Lynch watched something. . . . but it's impossible he didn't see this and use it for inspiration. Incredible film that will convince anyone who thinks adult films aren't real films. Stacked package of special features and a gorgeous restoration."

Art house infused erotic film
"Sandy wakes up at night, hearing her mother having sex with sleazy Robert, the boyfriend that moved in after her dad left her and her identical twin Denise. When Robert tries to have his way with Sandy one night, Sandy decides to leave town and movie to New York to go and live with her sister. On the road the she meets a lot of different people and gets involved in strange and sometimes magical happenings. Yes, this is a pornographic film. But it's also a psychological horror film that is played out in a couple of vignettes all the while with Sandy on her road trip. Depending on how you look upon it, the film has the tendency to leave a lot to the imagination of the viewer or it might just be a bit too confusing. There are touches of almost dreamlike magic, literally when Sandy meets a magician who levitates her and then has her experience sex through some kind of spiritual link. There's a bit of a puzzle to the story, motivations and (a little too little of) character development. My guess is that Sandy's journey is a representation of her sexual discovery fueled by the absence of her father. Look, for example, at the sex scene between Eric Edwards and Veronica Hart, the latter playing Denise's employer Rhonda. Their sex is intense, yet when thunder strikes, she cowers away. When they're finished, Rhonda gets to play with a doll. It suggests that Rhonda is a figment of Sandy's fantasy and imagination, trying to be like an adult (the sexual tension) yet at the same time not being too grownup (the fear of thunder, the playing with the doll). During her travels, she also sees Robert appear out of thin air and then disappear again. Near the end, we see how Robert is wearing the exact same clothes as Sandy's absent father. Reality and fiction are mixed through, not always being able to tell what we see happening is really happening or just playing out in Sandy's mind. I was fascinated by this film. I also felt that if some more time was spent on the characterization, we could have a really special work here. The thing is, it's also a porn movie. The sex is intense but certain scenes are there to provide a setup for sexual interaction without really providing anything to the general nightmarish story. That's normal for an adult film but a weakness for a genuine mainstream film. What I want to say is, the pornographic content at times has a way to interfere with the other elements and stop them dead in their tracks. Seeing Sandy's best friend having her way with her tennis coach detracts from the mystery of the film because it has to provide the stuff the audience came to seek. On the other hand, the 'psychic link' sex scene could turn into a standard threesome with 1 man and 2 women, which I would have preferred looking purely at the sexual side, but the way it plays out (with Sandy reaching out and experiencing sexual bliss without actually engaging in the act) fits with the general story. All of this might wrongly indicate that I didn't appreciate the film. On the contrary, it's extremely well lit and shot, acting is above par for the genre and the finale turns into some kind of living nightmare with Sandy finally able to cut loose, though with a (possible) bitter aftertaste. In any case, this film has been released on bluray by Command Cinema . Looks great, sounds good (finally they start to included subtitles) and loaded with a couple of great interviews."

Stylish Classic, Great Blu-ray Presentation
"Neon Nights is a great title and easily the highlight of this batch for me. I was a little disappointed that it is “only” Blu-ray and not 4K UHD, especially since it comes from a 4K scan, but the picture still looks very good. The video has a nice natural look and keeps that late-night adult film atmosphere without looking too modern or overdone. The movie itself is more than just the usual scenes lined up one after another. It has some really stylish sequences and a moody, almost dreamy feeling that makes it stand out. The disc also seems pretty stacked compared to some other releases, so overall this is a very nice edition of a classic title."

A Hodgepodge of dark secrets and Magic !
"I DO NOT expect a Cecil Howard's film to make much sense. His movies are usually all about nice cinematography, style, vibrant colors, nice set designs & decorations, interesting costumes, good looking actors and. . . . that's it. Neon Nights is a perfect example. There are some good sex scenes in it and then there's magic and so-called special effects !! This is a nice release, worth buying though, as there are 4 wonderful interviews with cast and crew. There are also outtakes with director's commentary. The limited edition slipcover is awesome."

The vibes from this are IMMACULATE
"Literally all style over substance cause I had no idea what was going on. Not that I’m complaining! The only nitpick I have for this release is the poster isn’t the best quality. The slipcover is gorgeous and the poster seems like a picture a lower quality image."

Dull
"I am not a huge fan of Jamie Gillis, so this may be a biased review. I had much higher hopes for this movie than what it turned out to be. I found it pretty dull and pointless. The lead actress can’t act her way out of a paper bag."

"Only for those who know themselves very, very well"
"My first venture into the realm of Command Cinema. A wild and trippy ride filled with taboo subject matter and a cast of your favorite faces. Jamie Gillis is of course here as the dirty creep that is unforgiving with his desires. The magician actor looks like a sleazy, hippy version of Dick Van Dyke. Kandi Barbour is gorgeous, but she has the puffiest, most under-developed nipples/breasts I've ever seen. The scenes blend into each other in a very disoriented, but psychedelic kind of way making me feel like I'm living in a vivid dream or fantasy. The mansion location is pure class. Perfect XXX movie of its time! The bonus interviews with Jamie Gillis, Veronica Hart, and Eric Edwards are a treat! Seems rare to see any interview with these legends. Highly recommended!"

Neon Nights - Blu-Ray review
"As long as there is a Veronica Hart scene it is a must buy for me. The story is rather average but the scenes are entertaining. I am not so sure about the covers though. I like them more memorable in order to distinguish the films."
