Throughout the mid to late 1970s, NYC directors of hardcore features were experimenting with any and every genre imaginable; often taking inspiration from pop culture fads of the era. Presented here are a trio of films which reflect the diversity in approaches to the genre from some of New York’s finest auteurs. "This is a very entertaining set with a nice mix of titles and styles. The transfers are solid overall, and the package gives fans a good amount to enjoy. Quality varies slightly from film to film, but the collection is definitely worthwhile."
"Strange porno b-movies. I like the package, I'm not sure I would've bought the three movies separately. I'm also not sure they will deserve a second screening here. I enjoyed Sunny the most, almost fell for the Saturday Night Fever mockup but I couldn't get into Vixens."
"3 great 70s flicks finely restored and they are soo much better this time around compared to years ago. I find this release so great also because the acting in all 3 titles is about as good as you can get for the era and I lay credit definitely to the directors who it seems, were making sure to get good takes out of the actors. . . . to me , nothing ruins these old flicks more when the acting is so ungodly bad and hurried. . . . . I liked all 3 titles for what they are, but liked Night Bird the most! a slew of great 70s stars amongst all 3 movies and again, 3 of them on 1 blu ray is great, the blu ray allows stellar pic quality on all 3 . . . . . . . . great offering for 70s fans. . . ."

"None of these films will probably blow you away, but they are all decent enough entries in the vintage XXX canon and hearken back to the earlier days of VS. I think I liked them in descending order down the triple feature. VIXENS doesn't have a ton of plot but if you are a fan of vintage martial arts flicks it's super fun to watch a porno crew try to do a take-off on the genre for $1. 98. SUNNY is a classic Sean Costello flick that, like a lot of his bigger budgeted (and smaller budgeted!) movies doesn't go that much anywhere, but is handsomely mounted with good production values and sex scenes. THE NIGHT BIRD is honestly pretty random in terms of plot, but has hints of real style here and there; it would've been fun to see what they could've done with it as an R-rated movie, as it feels like that's what it started out as sometimes. No real extras to speak of except a few trailers, but it's still nice to have these VS classics bumped up to a Blu-ray release with sparkling new transfers."

"VIXENS will leave you scratching your head, the tone is all over the place, but it's worth checking out (if you've seen the JAM sketch about "the gush", the ending makes more sense). SUNNY is my fave of the three. It's got Candida and Marlene in it, and it's light enough. NIGHT BIRD is a forgettable little Saturday Night Fever with glans affair, but hey you still get plenty of lovely 70s Noo Yoik location footage."
