"Well written autobiog by the best known name from the early gay porn scene, "Dirty Poole" gives a lot of insight into the making of classics like Boys in the Sand and Bijou, but also into the costs of being a known part of the scene, as Poole loses his succesful Broadway career and develops an all-encompassing coke habit in the process. Chock full of name dropping (Bob Fosse! Marlene Dietrich!) and a fascinating snapshot of a moment in time when it looked like porn might just become respectable and mainstream, and the fallout effect on people when that failed to happen."
