No one will ever make movies like Doris Wishman made movies. One of the most prolific women filmmakers in the history of American cinema, writer-director-editor Wishman created collisions between surrealism and exploitation that feel like they materialized from an alternate universe. THE FILMS OF DORIS WISHMAN: THE DAYLIGHT YEARS surveys the early, sun-soaked nudist era of Wishman's career. From NUDE ON THE MOON (Wishman's dreamlike sci-fi triumph) to HIDEOUT IN THE SUN (a crackpot nudie-noir) AGFA + Something Weird are honored to present these effervescent DIY treasures in gorgeous new restorations.

A Distinctive and Well-Presented Cult Collection
"The Films of Doris Wishman: The Daylight Years is another strong set that highlights just how unique her filmmaking style really is. You can see the effort behind these productions, even when budgets were limited, through creative choices in editing, framing, and structure that give the films a distinct personality. The way these films are shot stands out. Wishman’s unconventional angles, cutaways, and pacing create a style that feels experimental and unlike anything else from the era. It may take some getting used to, but that uniqueness is part of the appeal. The artwork on this release is excellent and fits the tone perfectly. It has a bold, vintage feel that makes the set look great on the shelf and complements the films’ aesthetic. Overall, this is a thoughtfully presented collection that captures a very specific voice in exploitation cinema, making it a worthwhile addition for collectors and fans of offbeat filmmaking."

Doris Wishman's start
"Will take me awhile to get through all the Doris Wishman films, but there's a wonderful joyous diversity in these early ones despite their common core. The ones with out there plots and settings are the most endearing."

The Films of Doris Wishman: The Daylight Years
"If your a lover of naturist movies or nudity in general this is a great choice. These types of movies are always quaint and chill. There are six movies in the set and like with most naturist movies, they typically have the same storyline. The set is light on special features, mostly commentaries. The limited edition comes in a nice hard box with a booklet and slipcover. There's a bonus addition if you get the other volumes. Each case is magnetic and they all can attach to each other which is a very cool feature."

Sunny good times in Wishman’s world
"The wonderful and oddly wholesome nudist camp films of Doris Wishman receive the deluxe treatment at last! I purchased the complete collection of Wishman’s films but will mention the first set “The Daylight Years” as I haven’t watched the others yet. 2 discs in and all I can say is wow, these 60+ year old films look and sound great! Only occasional missing frames and minor scratches pop up. You can tell this set was compiled with care. The films themselves are enjoyable peaks into the lost worlds of early exploitation cinema and sunny early 1960s Florida. A couple of decades later you can imagine Jim Jarmush’s Stranger Than Paradise drifters visiting the dilapidated remains of Wishman’s nudie sanctuary but the flamingos have lost their color, sadly. The films here all get catchy title songs that also fill out the many scenes of sun worshipers frolicking. And there’s much frolicking (and random accordion performances). So far I’m enjoying these much more than I imagined I would. My only regret is that I couldn’t snag the slip cover for volume 3."
