Reviews

Seminal Swedish Cinema

"Growing up, we always heard that porn from Sweden was the best — and this film is the reason why. The women are not models, but they’re all natural and enthusiastic — and that’s way hotter, Plus, there’s an incredible charm to the fantasy of the horn that turns them on so much that they cannot stop themselves. Amazing. And even though it’s many years old, there are scenes that are indelible — a fisting in one, and work with a kielbasa sausage in another. Klubb Super 8 knocks it out of the park and I hope they restore more classic Swedish films like this one. Highly, highly recommended!"

Good film with lovely artwork

"Really enjoyed this Joe Sarno pic from Sweden. Sexy women, a beautiful setting, and I was glad I managed to get the excellent slipcover edition while available. The commentary track has some good info, and for someone new to this movie it was a good listen."

Swedish classic

"“Come Blow the Horn!” (Fäbodjäntan, 1978) is a bawdy, rustic Swedish sex‑comedy best known for its playful fantasy premise, cheerful absurdity, and its place as one of the most iconic films of Sweden’s 1970s adult‑cinema boom. The film, directed by Joseph W. Sarno under the pseudonym Lawrence Henning, takes place on a small rural islet in Dalarna, where a group of friends gather for a celebration. The plot kicks in when one of them discovers a magical Viking horn—an ancient instrument said to make anyone who hears it uncontrollably aroused. This whimsical supernatural hook gives the film a tone that is more lighthearted fantasy than grimy exploitation"

Must buy for Sarno fans

"Come Blow the Horn is another strong example of Joseph W. Sarno’s ability to blend atmosphere, character drama, and intimacy into something far more thoughtful than people might expect, and this release does a great job preserving the film’s unique style and mood."

Klubb Super 8 at it again

"Klubb Super 8's release of the Swedish exploitation classic looks better than ever. Also has a Smut Without Smut viewing option."

Those Naughty Swedes

"Directed by American Joe Sarno, this is apparently something of a classic in Sweden. My first viewing was of the 'Smut Without Smut' version, which at around 80 minutes is quite an amusing little movie with no hardcore whatsoever. Having watched that, I had a quick flick through the full version to see what I'd missed and in all honesty I much preferred the actresses with their clothes on. I have no idea if they were found at a local brothel or if they were just local amateurs, but they all seemed to have skin conditions, rashes, bites and who knows what else. And I really don't want to sound harsh, as nobody is perfect, but a VHS of this would be far more forgiving. But with that said, the transfer is superb and therefore shows absolutely everything in fine detail. For the 'Smut Without Smut' version I'd rate it four stars, but the full version (which is too long anyway) gets a three."

A Charming Classic Comedy with Great Presentation

"Come Blow the Horn! is a light, energetic comedy that captures the charm and style of early 60s filmmaking. The dialogue is quick, the performances are charismatic, and the film has an easygoing rhythm that makes it an enjoyable watch from start to finish. As an edition, this release feels thoughtfully assembled. The presentation is clean and polished, giving the film a strong home video treatment while preserving its classic look and feel. The slipcover is a nice collector touch. The artwork is bright and appealing, fitting the tone of the movie while adding extra shelf presence to the package. Overall, the release is well done, with strong picture quality and an attractive presentation that makes it easy to recommend to fans of classic comedy."

More than a horn is blown

"This is one heck of a smut film from Sweden. I was able to get the package with the slipcover before it sold out. This is a film I knew nothing about and thankfully it found a home via the Klubb Super 8 label. This is one weird movie, and it gives a whole new meaning to "blowing your own horn" and "don't play with your food"."
