San Francisco based Jim & Artie Mitchell were at the forefront of bringing the sexual revolution to American cinema. Working within their filmmaking collective known as Cinema 7, the brothers and their group of regular artistic collaborators created dozens of intelligent, thought provoking, and radically minded erotic feature and short films. Mitchell Brothers Film Group will bring their extraordinary body of work to Blu-ray and 4K UHD in deluxe, restored editions, many of which will be coming to disc for the first time.

At the height of their popularity, The Mitchell Brothers oversaw the production of what was arguably their most unusual film to date: a lavish period piece directed by Broadway star Sharon McKnight, and adapted from an notorious erotic novel -- THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A FLEA.

Teenage Belle lives in the bucolic French countryside, living a mostly pious life, until the learned Father Ambrose catches her engaged in a most indecent act. Promising to spare her scandal if she gives herself fully to service the needs of the church, Belle is soon indoctrinated to the carnal habits of the priesthood as Ambrose, along with Fathers Clement and Superior, instruct her in the art of giving pleasure. But when Belle’s lecherous uncle, M. Verbouc learns of the whole affair, he too begins to desire his niece’s sweet flesh…

A pastiche of hypocritical Victorian mores, THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A FLEA stars Jean Jennings (Defiance of Good), Annette Haven (All Night Long), Paul Thomas (Getting Personal), John Holmes (Prisoner of Paradise), and character actor John Tate (TV’s Dynasty, The Day of the Triffids). Effortlessly witty and lavishly produced, Mitchell Brothers Film Group is proud to bring this ribald classic to Blu-ray, newly restored and as an added bonus, the newly restored disc premiere of The Mitchell Brothers' 1976 rarity C.B. MAMAS starring Leslie Bovee (Take Off) and Desiree West (Sex World).

Reviews

Ok double feature

"I enjoyed this disc overall, but thought the second film, CB Mamas, was the more interesting film. Never cared much for period pieces or Victorian stuff. Wish there had been more actual bonus features instead of a few cut scenes and a creased up poster I'll never hang."

Nathan M. (4/5)

Finally seen the film

"Read the Autobiography years ago and now I have seen the film. Great release lots of fun. Love the packaging with book and poster. CB Mamas was a nice bonus. Another Mitchell Brothers Film Group Release that comes Highly Recommended."

Hansi L. (5/5)

This is another fantastic release

"This is another fantastic release from Mélusine. The film itself looks incredible as they did a great job with the restoration. The film also is quite good. The dark humor is on point and the sex is never boring or repetitive. I wish the score was more varied but I can’t complain about the score in an adult film. While the extras aren’t numerous, we do get a 2 part Rialto Report interview with Paul Thomas as the commentary tracks which are very informative about his life and career. We also get the short feature of CB Mamas as well and that is a romp of a film. With the packaging and the film itself, this is very much worth buying!"

Matt P. (5/5)

I never thought I’d ever see these films…

"Looking this good! Seriously, these look beautiful. And both titles are legendary. John Holmes! PT in his first film! More please!"

Craig K. (5/5)

Very nice release, CB Mamas notwithstanding. . .

"First, the release is well done. Great booklet and even one-sided poster included. I thought the Autobiography of a Flea looked outstanding and was entertaining. Not your normal adult film. CB Mamas, on the other hand, was appropriately released as an add on. The film has noticeable damage in places and is definitely a creature of its time- high hippy feel with associated grooming. . . As much as I love Leslie Bovee, and as much as she does an admiral job acting. . . . it is just not one of her more appealing performances."

Robert R. (3/5)

Another gorgeous Mitchell Brothers release

"I bought this for C. B. Mamas but looking forward to watching both films. So much effort goes into these releases and as expected the packaging is stunning"

Kelly G. (5/5)

For Fans Only

"Easily the weakest Mitchell Bros release so far and it’s obvious why this didn’t get a 4K. That said, the movies do have a lot going for them and are fun enough. Just don’t get your hopes up that these are gonna reach anywhere close to the heights of Behind the Green Door or Resurrection of Eve."

Brock T. (5/5)

Nice Packaging and a bit of everything

"Flea is a well made erotic tale of deceit and coercion. CB Mamas on the other hand has a little print damage and is a whole lot kinkier - incest/schoolgirl and squirting breast milk"

KEVIN S. (4/5)

Classy Porn

"A huge jump in the quality of adult features during early days of porn. The story, the costumes, the dialogue, and etc. are all above average. The second feature, CB Mamas, is really not that great especially compared to the first film, but it does have Leslie Bovee in it, who I love and is always so enthusiastic"

Dean H. (5/5)

Mitchell Brothers Go Period Setting

"McKnight’s confident debut direction, strong visual style, and thoughtfully staged sex scenes give this otherwise thin bedroom farce more credibility than it deserves. Unfortunately, the weak script and the decision to retain the protagonist’s age from the novel cast the film’s sexuality in an uncomfortably sleazy light. Still, the inclusion of C. B. Mamas helps make this a worthwhile addition to ever growing Mitchell Brothers collection."
